Dando forma al futuro del lugar de trabajo: Perspectivas de la Conferencia de Verano de Studio Alliance

This June, Studio Alliance members gathered in Basel for our 2026 Summer Conference.

Our member Diem shared their experience; the Summit explored how design, technology and human connection are influencing the future of the workplace across Europe.

Our Summer Conference brought together members from across Europe for the second member meeting of 2026. Hosted in Basel, Switzerland, the two-day programme provided an opportunity for workplace, design and marketing professionals to exchange knowledge, share market perspectives and explore the challenges and opportunities shaping the future of work.

The summit offered valuable insight into how organisations are responding to changing workplace expectations, emerging technologies and the increasing importance of human-centred design.

Experiencing Design at Vitra Campus

The programme began with a visit to the Vitra Campus, one of Europe's most recognised destinations for architecture and design.

The experience highlighted the relationship between design, user experience and everyday life. The campus provided an opportunity to explore how different architectural approaches can coexist within a single environment while responding to varying user needs and experiences.

Beyond its iconic buildings, the Vitra Campus demonstrated how design evolves from concept to space and ultimately into experience. The visit encouraged participants to reflect on workplace design from a broader perspective and consider how environments influence culture, behaviour and collaboration.

Explorando el futuro del trabajo

Throughout the summit, members discussed several themes that continue to influence the workplace sector, including:

  • Artificial intelligence and emerging technologies
  • Workplace trends and evolving expectations
  • The needs of future generations
  • Human connection in increasingly digital environments

Discussions reinforced the idea that workplaces are no longer viewed simply as physical locations. Offices increasingly serve as environments that support organisational culture, encourage collaboration and provide opportunities for meaningful interaction.

One of the strongest themes to emerge was the importance of balancing technological advancement with human experience. While innovation continues to transform the workplace, people remain at the centre of successful environments.

Sharing Perspectives Through Marketing and Workplace Sessions

The summit programme included dedicated marketing and workplace sessions, allowing members to share expertise and experiences from their respective markets.

During the marketing session, Diem presented its approach to event marketing, highlighting how events can act not only as promotional activities but also as communication platforms that strengthen relationships, support brand storytelling and create meaningful audience engagement.

Artificial intelligence and its growing influence on marketing practices also formed part of the discussion. Members exchanged perspectives on content creation, efficiency and changing communication behaviours, providing valuable insight into common challenges across different markets.

Alongside these discussions, workplace sessions focused on hybrid working, the future of the office and the evolving workplace experience. Through workshops and collaborative exercises, members explored how organisations and workplaces are adapting to changing expectations and behaviours.

The Strength of the Studio Alliance Network

One of the most valuable aspects of the Summer Conference was the opportunity to bring Studio Alliance members together in person.

The exchange of ideas between different countries and markets remains one of the network's greatest strengths. Sharing experiences, discussing common challenges and learning from different perspectives enables members to broaden their understanding of workplace trends and market developments.

Informal conversations during the evening programme further strengthened these connections, highlighting the importance of relationships and collaboration alongside professional knowledge-sharing.

Mirando hacia el futuro

Across two days, the Summer Conference explored themes including design, technology, workplace trends, marketing and human-centred approaches. One message stood out clearly: while technology continues to create new possibilities for the workplace, people, relationships and a culture of collaboration remain fundamental to meaningful workplace experiences.

Returning from Basel, Diem takes away new perspectives, fresh ideas and valuable connections. The opportunity to collaborate with fellow Studio Alliance members and contribute to discussions about the future of work continues to demonstrate the value of the network and the importance of international knowledge-sharing.

Studio Alliance would like to thank all members who contributed to another successful summit and to the continued exchange of ideas across the network.
