A Workplace Shaped by Movement, Navigation and Technology
For HERE Technologies, Studio Alliance member Ditt Officemakers designed a dynamic working environment that reflects the organisation’s focus on movement, navigation and digital precision. Located in the Atrium in Amsterdam, the project translates the company’s expertise in global location technology into spatial form, while integrating smart systems and achieving nearly 50% furniture reuse in line with sustainability ambitions.
The Brief
HERE Technologies develops global location technology and digital maps that help millions of people and organisations navigate the world more effectively.
The brief was to create a work environment that reflects who the organisation is and the work it undertakes every day. The new office at the Atrium in Amsterdam needed to clearly express:
- Movement and flow
- Logical navigation
- Technological precision
- A forward-looking approach to sustainability
Design Concept: Soft Lines and Logical Routes
The concept is built around soft lines, logical routes and warm materials.
Curved glass walls enhance the existing architecture and open up the space, while a stone reception desk establishes a natural and solid first impression. Subtle LED lines guide movement through the office and reference the precision and constant flow of data for which HERE is known.
Smart technologies are integrated throughout the workplace, including booking systems that support efficient and intuitive use of space.
Sustainability and Reuse
Sustainability played a visible role in the design.
Nearly 50% of the furniture was given a second life and consciously reused, aligning with HERE’s ambition to build with the future in mind and a climate-conscious design approach.
Outcome and Recognition
The result is a bright and energetic work environment that supports focus and collaboration.
The quality of the workplace has been internationally recognised, with inclusion in the top ten of Leesman+ World’s Leading Workplaces. This recognition confirms that the environment not only presents a strong visual identity, but also supports the people who use it on a daily basis.
