When an international tech team returned to a building they had left a decade earlier, Studio Alliance member SGI took on more than a design brief. The project was about transforming architecture and reshaping the way people experienced the workplace.
Through transparency, engagement, and ongoing dialogue, the relocation became a process of reconnection - creating a workplace shaped with its people, not just for them.
About the Project
Reoccupying a former office space carried both logistical and emotional complexity. While the building was familiar, the challenge lay in adapting it for a contemporary work culture. SGI approached the project as more than a relocation, ensuring the process itself became part of the design journey.
Design Approach
Transparency was central. Construction progress was openly shared through photo diaries, site visits, and presentations. Teams were invited to witness the transformation rather than only the finished result. This helped reframe the workplace from something inherited into something renewed - made specifically with them in mind.
Scope of Work
Feedback became a key design tool. SGI engaged directly with both leadership and employees, adapting plans in real time. Floor layouts were reconfigured, HVAC zones fine-tuned, and lighting adjusted according to comfort levels.
The commitment to inclusion extended beyond handover. Post-occupancy visits ensured further refinements, from individual lighting adjustments to capturing insights not expressed in formal surveys. This culture of care turned a fast-tracked relocation into a workplace that people could truly call their own.
