Studio Alliance member Danielsen Spaceplanning designed the transformation of Frederiksberg Forsyning’s administrative headquarters in Copenhagen.
Centred on Buildings B and C, the project integrates architectural redesign, workplace strategy and interior design to accommodate organisational change following the sale of Building D. The initiative consolidates previously distributed functions into a cohesive, future-oriented workplace environment.
Centred on Buildings B and C, the project integrates architectural redesign, workplace strategy and interior design to accommodate organisational change following the sale of Building D. The initiative consolidates previously distributed functions into a cohesive, future-oriented workplace environment.
Strategic Context
The sale of Building D has created the need to reintegrate core functions — including office areas, training rooms and workshops — into Buildings B and C. This shift has provided an opportunity not only to redistribute space, but to reassess how the organisation’s physical environment supports collaboration, operational efficiency and employee experience.
Rather than approaching the change as a straightforward relocation, the project establishes a broader framework for workplace transformation aligned with contemporary ways of working.
Spatial and Organisational Reconfiguration
At the centre of the new configuration is a central hub designed to function as the organisational core of the building. This space incorporates green atrium courtyards and shared meeting points, supporting interaction and informal exchange.
The revitalisation of the canteen and improvements to the indoor climate contribute to a healthier and more considered working environment. Across the scheme, functions formerly located in Building D are integrated into Buildings B and C in a manner intended to enhance connectivity and spatial efficiency.
The workplace strategy underpinning the project prioritises adaptability, ensuring that the layout can respond to evolving workstyles over time. Interior design solutions have been developed to reflect Frederiksberg Forsyning’s identity while supporting clarity, usability and overall user experience.
Urban Connection and Future Readiness
The transformation also strengthens the organisation’s relationship with its urban context, fostering a more open and accessible presence within the city.
Collectively, these interventions reposition the headquarters as a coherent and forward-looking workplace environment, designed to accommodate both current operational requirements and future organisational development.
