Exploring Workplace Preferences: Insights from Diem's LinkedIn Community

To gain a deeper understanding of workplace preferences, Diem surveyed its LinkedIn followers. The survey provided valuable insights into ever-changing working environments and what different employees prioritise.

Flexible Working:

The survey findings demonstrated the diverse preferences regarding flexible working. A significant portion, 35% of respondents, prefer a hybrid work model, indicating a desire to balance remote and in-office work. This reflects a growing trend towards flexibility in work arrangements, which allows individuals to manage their professional and personal lives more effectively. Furthermore, 11% of respondents value the complete freedom offered by remote work, while 13% prioritise in-office work, emphasising the importance of face-to-face collaboration for certain roles. The 5% who prefer on-site work highlights the necessity of physical presence in specific job roles.

Preferences on Different Working Environments:

When it comes to the preferred working environment, there is a variety of choices among respondents. It's notable that 26% prefer closed offices, emphasising the need for privacy and focus in some workspaces. On the other hand, 37% opt for open layouts, indicating a preference for collaboration and accessibility for certain tasks and projects. The 15% who choose co-working spaces underscore the importance of dedicated areas for teamwork, while 22% opting for home offices suggests the increasing acceptance of remote work.


Socialising in the Office:

Insights into socialising habits at the office provide valuable understanding of employee interactions. A significant 41% prefer collaboration areas for informal gatherings, emphasising the importance of fostering team bonds. Additionally, 32% favour the cafeteria, suggesting that mealtimes are provide an opportunity for networking. 14% of respondents use smoking areas for socialising, highlighting the role of designated spaces in promoting a sense of community. Similarly, 14% preferring play or wellness areas underscore the importance of recreational spaces in promoting employee well-being and work-life balance.

Office Design Features:

When considering the most significant features of office design, functionality emerges as the top priority for the majority, with 71% prioritising practicality and efficiency. This indicates a clear focus on creating workspaces that support productivity and workflow. Following closely, 17% emphasise the importance of technology, highlighting the need for modern tools and infrastructure. Meanwhile, 7% value aesthetics, recognising the importance of visual appeal in office environments. Lastly, 11% prioritise comfort, highlighting the significance of ergonomic furniture for creating a comfortable working environment.
